Baako berates Rawlings over 'fallacious' comments

Kweku Baako Jnr., Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide, has responded to former President Jerry John Rawlings’ criticisms about the late Louis Casely Hayford over electrification in the country.

Addressing the NDC delegates at the party's Congress on Saturday, former President Rawlings told the delegates that though Ghana's first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, planted the teak trees to commence the electrification process; the actual project was done under his regime.

He, therefore, commended Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur for being bold to hit the nail on the head during the burial ceremony of Mr. Louis Casely Hayford.

Speaking on Peace FM's Morning Show Kokrokoo, Kweku Baako described Mr. Rawlings' argument as "fallacious" and asserted that the Rawlings' regime failed to address the concerns of Ghanaian people.

To him, for the past 10 years, the NDC government has set out to attack the Busia and Limann regimes for being insensitive to the plight of Ghanaians.

However, the NDC has since not done any better for the citizenry.

“It was unnecessary; the political propaganda that you displayed way back by trying to accuse the PP and the PNP regimes that they were not sensitive to the plight of the people in the country…it was a fallacy. It had always been a fallacy…That’s why it took you seven years to do it because you needed time and resources to do that, otherwise when you came, within 27 months; you should have done it.

“Those people you attacked had only 27 months and yet you attacked them for the non-fulfillment of extending electricity.”

According to Kweku Baako, "the NDC Congress ground was inappropriate, a platform, for the founder of the party to have used to discuss that or interrogate that issue. It bordered even on insensitivity and indiscretion…There was a fallacy inherent in the Rawlings’ argument.”
