The "Rawlings" factor is a poison to nation-building - Kabila

James Kwabena Bomfeh of the Convention People's Party (CPP) has accused Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings of "poisoning" the nation.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Kabila, as he is known in political circles, believed Ex-President Rawlings' influence in the nation if not checked is a major threat to nation-building.

Addressing the nation on Kwami Sefa Kayi's programme, Kabila advised the entire nation to reduce the political influence and aura that Mr. Rawlings has been prancing in the country with or else the country will have to apparently contend with the "venom" from the former President.

Kabila also urged the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to limit the influence that Mr. Rawlings has in the party so as to uphold the democratic structures set up by the party.

He however lauded the NDC rank and file for building a wall against the President and keeping him behind the doors of the party but to him, the party should do enough to serve as a check on Mr. Rawlings.

“It will be better and prudent for both the NDC and Ghana as a whole to discard that “Rawlings” factor because it’s a killer and a poison to our politics and nation-building…I wonder if Mr. Rawlings has ever had any political ideal or thought…”

He also advised the party to somehow dissolve their Propaganda department since they claim to be democratic.

“I am saying they should be straight. Let your principle be your principle," he said.
