Yaw Boateng Gyan endorses Mahama for 2016

The National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Boateng Gyan, has endorsed President John Dramani Mahama as the party’s best choice for the 2016 general election.

He said it would be unacceptable for anyone in the NDC to contest President Mahama like Mrs. Konadu Agyeman Rawlings did in 2011 when she challenged late President Mills.

Yaw Gyan said the NDC endorses President Mahama’s transformation agenda and the success recorded so far. “In fact, we want him to continue with the good works beyond 2016 and we are prepared to work for him to actualize this goal,” the incumbent National Organizer stressed.

According to him, President Mahama used only three months to win the 2012 election and given his performance, he is now ready to retain power for the party to continue with ‘our social democratic policy of helping the poor in our society.”

Yaw Boateng Gyan, who is being challenged by Kofi Adams, pointed out that irrespective of the outcome of the contest, he would be one of the main crusaders to ensure that President Mahama would be their presidential candidate without any challenge by anybody in the party.

He said the party will not allow the incident of 2011 to be repeated; “we have learnt our lessons.”

On the campaign for his re-election, Yaw Boateng Gyan said although he was confident delegates would renew his mandate on the basis of his record and loyalty to the party, he was worried about lies and falsehood being peddled about him by his opponent.

He said it was sad that some people in the name of political contest deliberately lie about others, calling for an end to character assassination within the party.

Meanwhile, the Functional Executive Committee (FE) of the NDC has settled on December 13, 2014 to organize the party’s national delegates congress.

The congress which will allow delegates of the party to elect new national executives will take place in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Region.
