The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako says his life is under threat.
According to Chairman Wontumi as he is popularly called, he has been receiving anonymous phone calls threatening his life.
Mr. Antwi Bosiako who suspects the perpetrators may be his political opponents in the region said he fears for his life.
In an interview with Citi News, an aide to the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Kwesi Akuaku said the anonymous caller threatened to deal with him if he [Wontumi] does not stop plans to garner more votes for the NPP in the 2016 general elections.
He said they have not lodged a formal complaint to the police because, he [Wontumi] does not have confidence in them.
This notwithstanding, Kwesi Akuaku noted that, they are taking the necessary steps to get adequate security for Chairman Wontumi.
“In this era of mysterious killings in the country, Chairman Wontumi has taken the threats seriously and has beefed up his security,” he added.
