Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South, Stephen Balado Manu has pulled out of the General Secretary contest of the party.
“After consultations both internally and even externally, I have now come to a conclusion that for personal reasons, I have decided to step down from the race,” Mr. Manu announced.
He had earlier declared his intention to contest the General Secretaryship of the party but speaking on Citi-FM’s News and Current Affairs Programme, The Big Issue, Mr. Manu said he will not contest the seat anymore.
“…So just as I announced it here, I think I should inform the supporters who were interested in my General Secretary ship that for very personal reasons after wide consultations I have decided to step aside,” he stated.
This leaves the substantive General Secretary of the party, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, Kwabena Agyapong, Nkrabea Effa Darteh and all those who have made public their intentions to contest the position in the March 2013 Congress.
