The New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth group calling itself Friends of Kofi Konadu Apraku in the Northern Region has jumped to the defense of the NPP’s 2016 presidential hopeful.
The former Trade and Industry Minister has recently been accused of spending monies meant for the party’s 2012 campaign activities.
His office has since denied the allegation even though the matter is still gaining prominence in the media.
The group suspects’ saboteurs of Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku’s presidential ambition for 2016 are behind such fabricated allegations.
The group’s Spokesperson, Abubakari Zakaria, told Citi News no amount of intimidation will stop Dr. Apraku from contesting the NPP’s presidential primary.
He said Dr. Apraku has sacrificed himself enough for the NPP since its inception in 1991 for which reason he is more than qualified to lead the party in 2016.
“Kofi Konadu Apraku has contributed a lot to NPP since its inception in 1991 and we are seeing that if these accusations are given way there are a lot of things that will happen to the party in general and that is why we have come out to debunk it.”
Abubakari Zakaria added “financially Dr. Apraku is still supporting the party and today he has also qualified to lead the party and because of that some people within the party are creating some impressions just to assassinate his image.”
