Commend Mahama for the courage to reshuffle - Agalga

The Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga has stated that President John Mahama should be lauded for taking the bold step to reshuffle all nine Regional Ministers in his government.

The President recently reshuffled all his Regional Ministers just a month after their appointment.

This however attracted a lot of criticism across the country with many questioning the rationale behind the move.

But speaking on Citi Fm’s ‘The Big Issue’, Mr. Agalga said the President’s action is commendable and will further ensure that the Regional Ministers are not distracted by ethnic sentiments which is usually the norm.

“When Ministers are made to swap positions, you continue to work as a Regional Minister, it is a move around. I think that the rationale for the move around was to forestall ethnic bottlenecks that some of these political appointees usually get exposed to.”

He continued, “You find yourself in a region, you belong to an ethnic group, naturally, so much pressure is going to be brought to bear on your work. You want to send people who don’t even come from the region to go and work in other regions so that they can be focused.”

Mr. Agalga commended President Mahama for the initiative saying, “I think it is in the right direction.”
