The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nanton, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed has warned his colleague MP for Adoagyiri not to ever question his credibility again or risk being exposed.
He said the Adoagyiri MP, Frank Annor Dompreh, has no integrity and thus wondered how he could call the integrity of another person into question.
Mr. Mohammed was responding to a publication in the New Statesman newspaper on Thursday, in which Mr Annor Dompreh reportedly described him as a disgrace to Parliament.
The angry Nanton MP could not resist the urge to respond in like manner when he spoke to Joy FM’s Parliamentary correspondent Elton Brobby.
“I think that he is just an apology of an MP and I think that such loose cannons within the minority should be checked.
“I don’t think he is more [of] an efficient and effective member of parliament than me…” Murtala snapped, saying that if the Adoagyiri MP is looking for an MP who is unbecoming of parliament “he should look within himself”.
Murtala Mohammed threatened to expose Mr. Dompreh’s ‘bad deeds’ while he was a student leader; daring, “if he wants us to go that lane, Annor Dompreh, bring it, you will have it.”
Murtala Mohammed sparred with Ablekuma West MP, Ursula Owusu, in the lobby of Parliament the very week the MPs were sworn into office.
Mr. Annor Dompreh dared the Nanton MP to go ahead and expose him if he has any adverse information about him.
He said it was disappointing that Mr. Murtala did not read carefully the reports suggesting that he (Dompreh) attacked his person in the Statesman interview.
Meanwhile a member of parliament’s privileges committee, John Jatuah has condemned the incident saying “it is not the best” of behavior to be exhibited by any member of the house.
He said the two MPs will be engaged to ascertain the true nature of the problem and resolve it.
