The Machinations Won’t Work! Ghanaians Are Resolved.

Good morning distinguished Ladies and gentlemen of the media.
Exactly three days from today, our collective actions and inactions as a people will determine whether Ghana will continuously maintain and enjoy her enviable position as a beacon of hope and a shining example for the rest of Africa as far as fulfilling the democratic imperative of staging free, fair and transparent elections are concerned. Ghana has always been pacesetters and AFAG has no doubt that with total vigilance and active participation of the millions of Ghanaians out there, Ghana will come through this democratic exercise unscathed.
Whiles in often times we have looked to a select few for the maintenance of peace and order, by virtue of their positions of thrust, several experiences abound to show that in periods and times like these corrupt and non performing governments for fear of being punished electorally, resort to acts intimidation and all sorts of machinations to hijack the mandate of the people who suffer the brunt of their incompetence. Whiles AFAG believes that peace is a prerequisite for national stability and development; we also believe that any attempt to hijack the mandate of the people should not in any way be countenanced.
Ladies and gentlemen, true to the example above, intelligence picked up by AFAG indicates that the Mahama led NDC government out of fear of losing this election on account of its nonperformance is hell bent on hijacking the mandate of the people of Ghana. According to our intelligence;
• Messrs Charles Boah, Paul Kwakye, Awuni (Major) and David Lamptey are seriously engaged in some security operations that stands to threaten the peace we enjoy. AFAG wants to sound a clear note of caution to them that we are aware of all their machinations and will pursue them not through mob action but through the sovereign path of seeking justice should the peace of the nation be bridged.
• We have also picked up information on the 6000 Ivoirians brought in by the NDC to enhance the electoral chances of the NDC Parliamentary Candidate and President Mahama at the Jomoro Constituency. The Ivoirians came through the Elubo boarder.
• Members of the NDC in the Ashanti Region will on Election Day visit polling stations clad in NPP shirts to cause mayhem with the objective of discrediting the results.
• Members of the NDC rented press are lining up publications to the effect that personnel of the security services who took part in today’s special voting voted massively for President Mahama and subsequently call of Ghanaians to do same.

EFFECTS OF THESE ACTIONS:
Ladies and gentlemen of the press you would agree with us, that the afore will not only create insecurity, but will also constitute a breach in trust and above all set the grounds for other interested parties to contest the outcome of the results of the elections. Ladies and gentlemen, this we must all work assiduously to avoid.

REMEDY
Countrymen, although we all crave for peace before, during and after the elections, AFAG is convinced that preserving and maintaining the peace will be best done by you the millions of Ghanaians out there who far outnumber those who for reasons of short term gratification would sacrifice professionalism on the altar of prolonging the stay in office of a non performing government. Consequently AFAG urges all Ghanaians to be mindful of the constitutional provision that sovereignty of Ghana resides in the people of Ghana, by making a conscious effort to protect their ballot by being vigilant after casting the ballot.
Let’s get out and exercise our franchise with any fear or favor.
Let’s protect our ballot.
Thank you.
