As Nana Akufo-Addo’s Free-Senior High School (SHS) ship continues to sink deeper in the waters of truth, members of the Akyem mafia have been accusing ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor, as being one of the people working against the NPP flagbearer, The Informer has gathered.
Nana Akufo-Addo, is more than convinced that ex-President John Kufuor and his Ashanti group on the quiet, are working against the party’s (NPP) fortunes in the forthcoming elections so as to give their preferred choice, Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen the edge to become the next flagbearer of the party, and has vowed to severely deal with them should he (Nana Addo)loses the election, this paper’s intelligence sources have hinted.
“In fact, Nana Addo is certain that former President Kufuor is strongly behind Papa Owusu Ankomah’s latest comment on the party’s free SHS stand and will surely seek revenge even though, it is a gospel truth that the free SHS policy will be difficult to implement, following the infrastructural deficit the country is saddled with, as far as the educational sector is concerned”, a trusted source told The Informer
Also, snippets of very credible information reaching The Informer have it that, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, Nana Asante Bediatuo, Nana Fredua Agyeman, Ursula Owusu and co are fuming with rage that former President Kufuor, Mr. Kwadwo Okyere Mpiani and the entire Ashanti sect in the party, are working to ensure that Akufo-Addo loses the upcoming election.
“Papa Owusu Ankomah will equally not be spared; have demonstrated his long-hatred for Nana Addo and his close allies like Madam Ursula Owusu”, another NPP member has pointed out.
It is on record that it was Papa Owusu Ankomah, then Attorney General and Minister of Justice in the erstwhile Kufuor administration, who scrapped the office created for Ursula Owusu by Nana Akufo-Addo, when Nana was earlier appointed to the position mentioned above, and this is what has made Papa Owusu Ankomah the target of Nana Akufo-Addo, Ursula Owusu and the Akyem group till date.

Free SHS will be tough but...

A former Minister of Education in the Kufuor Administration, Papa Owusu Ankomah has predicted that an Akufo-Addo led presidency would have tough challenges implementing its flagship free SHS policy.

According to him, one of the immediate challenges that the NPP will encounter is inadequate infrastructure as enrollment is expected to shoot up astronomically.

The Member of Parliament for Sekondi who was speaking to Joy FM’s Western regional correspondent, Kweku Owusu Peprah said he is confident that the NPP has the right leadership to implement this “tough policy”.

Papa Owusu Ankomah expressed concerns that the free SHS policy will lead to a situation where parents will shirk entire responsibility on the upkeep of their wards in SHS.

The Sekondi MP was however confident that the NPP would successfully implement the free SHS policy should the party be voted to power in the December 7 polls.
