CPP Crippling In Nzema

The strength of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) in the Western region particularly the Nzemaland seems to be gradually waning.
The Nzema constituency which used to be a no go area for any other party apart from the CPP due to its link to Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Kwame Nkrumah has been reeling under the scourge of in-house acrimony and massive backbiting in constituencies such as Evalue-Gwira, Jomoro and Ellembelle.
This has generally led to entrenched apathy amongst some rank and file of the party in the above constituencies.
The woes of the CPP in Evalue-Gwira begun after the emergence of two factions alleged to be spearheaded by Kojo Armah, a one-time MP for the area on the ticket of CPP…openly accused of siding with one AckahQuarm, the 2012 parliamentary aspirant as against the defeated aspirant: Agather Mensah who also doubles as the constituency women’s organiser.
Mr. Evans James Kojo Armah was accused by some party faithful of of orchestrating the defeat of Madam Mensah by secretly sponsoring AckahQuarm.
The ‘cold war’ between these two factions sources hint is posing as a n albatross on the neck of the party as it prepares for the December 7 showdown.
Some executives confided in this reporter that AckahQuarm “is not a winnable candidate and cannot match with the incumbent NPP’s candidate Catherine Ablema Afeku nor the NDC’s Kweku Tanekyi-Kesseh.”
They therefore do not find and tangible reason to support their candidate ahead of the December elections.
An executive member responsible for the youth wing of the party in the Evalue-Gwira constituency by name ‘Doctor’ confirmed that the CPP’s aspirant has not got the wherewithal to lead the party arguing that all their candidate does is to “hang out with some close friends of his in a popular drinking joint known as ‘Cross Fire’ instead of the executives of the party to strategise and moot plans that would enable the party to win convincingly in the 2012 December polls.”
He opined that AckahQuarm since winning the primaries has failed to resolve and unite all parties who were peeved during the campaigning process of the primaries, adding that his inability to attend to the issues affecting the party will affect his chances in the December elections.
Another staunch member of the party by name Auntie Adjoa argued that the CPP as it stands currently has no credibility in the area as most of its executives and members have silently crossed carpet to the two leading parties and are busily helping in their campaign process.
She accused the women’s organiser cum defeated aspirant Madam Agartha Mensah for being in bed with the ruling NDC Government.
The party hierarchy, at both regional and national levels was therefore called upon to immediately intervene to save the CPP from losing its credibility among the true Nkrumaists fraternity of Ghana.
Same can be said of the Ellembelle Constituency after the leading parliamentary candidate Someah Addea lost to Nana Brumaa Twum, a native of Nkroful.
This has led the defeated candidate declaring his intention to go independent, calling himself the ‘True Nkrumaist.’
The NDC candidate, Hon Emmanuel Kofi Buah, according to some CPP members is mostly going to have a field’s day come December 7.
Some stalwarts of the party are angry over the inability of the party Chairperson to work towards resolving this fracas within the party.
In the Jomoro Constituency, also, Commander Anaman of the NDC is expected to give the Madam Samia Nkrumah a run for her money because “she has lost touch with the indigenes.”
“She cannot communicate effectively with us in the local Nzema language,” some constituents lamented.
