Gov't must speak against attacks on NPP sympathisers

The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is calling on government to openly condemn the recent attacks on its leading members by some unknown persons.

Over the last few weeks, some prominent members of the NPP have been attacked in an armed robbery style.

The first to be attacked was the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Kan Dapaah and lately a cousin of the flagbearer of the NPP and Executive Director of DATA Bank, Kan Ofori-Atta.

Speaking to XYZ News on the development, the National Organizer of the NPP, Alhaji Moctar Bamba said the NPP is not in a hurry to apportion blame for the sequence of events but is monitoring what the security agencies will do about the development.

“The National Security should talk to people so that they stop what they are doing. Maybe they won’t be party faithful of the ruling party but are doing that to destroy their names,” he said.

He said they will wait to see the outcome of the investigations from the security apparatus before making a conclusive statement on the matter saying, “when talking about such issues you have to be careful.”

Alhaji Bamba however admonished government to speak against what he says the act of terrorism against the opposition parties.
