SAVE-Ghana trains 150 election observers

SAVE-Ghana, a civil society organization interested in consolidating Ghana’s democratic credentials, has trained 150 election observers to help monitor this year’s elections, in Wa East, Lambussie-Karni and Nadowli Districts in the Upper West Region.

Mr. Kingsley Kanton, Executive Director of the civil society organisation, disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency at Tumu.

He said that the exercise formed part of a project dubbed: “Credibility Watch”, being implemented by SAVE-Ghana in collaboration with STAR-Ghana with funding from the European Union, Danish International Development Agency, United States Agency for International Development, and Department for International Development.

Mr. Kanton said the project aimed at helping make election 2012 free, fair and peaceful to enhance development in the country.

He said it also sought to heighten voter confidence in the 2012 voter registration, and reduce the incidence of violence before, during and after the elections.
