I lost because I refused to bribe delegates – Sene MP

The Member of Parliament for Sene, Hon. Twumasi Appiah says he lost his primary in the ongoing NDC Parliamentary primaries because he refused to bribe delegates.

The NDC MP joined the list of sitting MPs who have lost their primaries to their contenders in the ongoing primaries of the ruling NDC party.

Speaking in an interview with XYZ News, Hon. Twumasi Appiah categorically stated that his fate would have been different if he had bribed the delegates to vote for him.

“I did everything that I could do but as to why I lost I cannot tell. I think at the end of day it is the highest bidder that won. As for delegates, it is what they see as the immediate benefit” Twumasi Appiah said.

He added “I thought that because of all the good works that I have done, I shouldn’t be paying money for me to get myself elected. Honestly I didn’t pay and my competitor paid and they voted for him so I am ok with that”.

Meanwhile, Mr Twumasi said his competitor has a problem of dual citizenship which he needs to solve if he wants to win the general elections.

“I am going to campaign but not until he fixes his dual citizenship problem. The man is an American citizen and Ghanaian citizen as well so he should as soon as possible go and fix that problem. Otherwise what happened to the NPP Mp for Bawku may happen to him”.
