Akim North and Central NDC pick parliamentary candidates

Mr. Jude Atuahene, an educationist, has been elected as the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asante-Akim Central Constituency.

This was by popular acclamation at the party’s special delegates’ congress at Konongo.

Mr. Atuahene pledged to work hard to wrest the constituency seat that has been held by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) since 1996.

He said to make this happen, the support and contribution of each member of the party would be vital.

The battle ahead was not an easy one and they would have to work with unity of purpose to bring victory.

In the Asante-Akim North Constituency, Mr. Daniel Osei-Kwadwo, a businessman, polled 277 votes to beat his main challenger, Mr. Yaw Kwakye, who had 91 votes, to emerge the NDC’s parliamentary candidate.

This was after Mr. Thomas Osei-Bonsu, former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante-Akim North, had withdrawn from the contest.
