Assembly receives commendation for achievements

The Asante-Akim South District has scored high marks for the tremendous progress brought to the people in the area within the past three years.

Nana Asiama-Poku Afrifa II, a member of the Council of State, said the pace of development of the district as evidenced from the numerous projects undertaken was commendable.

“There is clear manifestation that the government’s “Better Ghana Agenda” is indeed on course.”

Nana Asiama-Poku, who is also the Toasehene, was speaking during a day’s inspection tour of the district to acquaint himself with the progress of work on some projects initiated to help transform the living conditions of the people in the various communities.

These included the 64.3 kilometre Obogu-Gyadam road, bamboo service centre at Obogu, the Mamponteng electrification project, classroom and dormitory blocks for the Bompata and Juaso Senior High Schools (SHS), a two-storey district police headquarters at Juaso, the Bankame school project and the Juaso-Morso road.

Nana Asiama-Poku said he was particularly impressed with the bamboo service centre, where bamboo products would be produced as an alternative to wood.

He said he had no doubt that this would give jobs to the youth and provide the assembly with revenue.

He encouraged students to take advantage of the improved infrastructure and learning facilities to excel in their academic work.

Mr. De-graft Fokuo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), called for the completion of work on a teachers’ bungalow at the Juaso SHS abandoned for the past 12 years.**
