95,603 people register in Kwabre West, Afigya-Sekyere West

A total of 95,603 voters had registered in the Kwabre-West and Afigya-Sekyere West Constituencies as at the end of the nationwide biometric voter registration by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Compared with the old electoral roll’s figure of 80,347, the voter population increased by 15,256.

The Afigya-Kwabre District Electoral Officer, Mr Joshua Ofori-Prempeh, told the Ghana News Agency that, 65,994 of the people registered in the Kwabre West as against the previous total of 53,070.

Afigya-Sekyere West saw 29,604 voters registering, up from the old figure of 27,277.

He said 87 of the applicants were challenged in the two constituencies based on age and nationality.

Mr. Ofori-Prempeh described the registration exercise in the two areas as successful.

“It went smoothly and peacefully,” he said, and gave high marks to the people for their display of maturity.

In all, 228 field officers, three supervisors and two technicians were engaged for the exercise in 139 registration centres in the two constituencies.**
