Avoid double registration - Moctar Bamba

Alhaji Moctar Bamba, National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has cautioned the party members and sympathizers to resist the temptation of engaging in double registration during the upcoming biometric voters roll compilation.

He said offenders will not only lose their votes but could also be prosecuted; and urged them to disregard the negative propaganda about the biometric registration that seek to create fear in the people, insisting that there was no health risk and that it was safe.

He said proof of this could be found in the recent national identification registration exercise by the National Identification Authority, adding that, the biometric voters registration if properly managed will take out electoral cheating and fraud, and ensure a credible outcome of the polls.

Alhaji Bamba said this when addressing party supporters at a ceremony to re-launch the Ashanti Regional branch of the Young Elephant Movement at the Abbey’s Park in Kumasi.

He appealed to party members not to be intimidated and ensure that only qualified voters took part in the exercise.

He advised them to register in their numbers saying those who stayed away would forfeit their right to vote in the December polls and that will amount to a complete sale of their freedom and right to live a decent life, free of corruption and mismanagement of national resources which has resulted in abject poverty in the country.

Nana Garbi Nketia, former Ghana Ambassador to South Korea, told the party loyalists to work hard and make the necessary sacrifices to bring NPP back to power and appealed to them to be civil in their utterances and focused on issues to win over floating voters.**
