Association urges delegates to endorse President Mills

Kumasi, July 6, GNA - The Association of Constituency Secretaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region has appealed to delegates to the party's national congress to vote massively for President John Atta Mills.

This, it said, was the only way to assure the NDC of victory in the 2012 general election.

About 3,000 delegates would gather in Sunyani, the Brong-Ahafo Regiona= l capital, from July 8-10, to choose who leads the party to the battle for political power in next year's poll. The contest is between President Mills and former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings.

The association in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Mr Godwin Dela, and Secretary, Mr Daniel Frimpong, said President Mills was th= e NDC's best bet and that any decision to change him would prove to be an electoral disaster.

It said President Mills had won the hearts of many Ghanaians for his humility, modesty, peaceful and God-fearing nature. The statement appealed to all delegates to conduct themselves well to ensure a successful congress and added that the NDC should come out of the congress more united and stronger than before.
