CPP Gets New leaders In Upper East

The Upper East regional branch of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) on Sunday July 3, 2011, elected new executives to steer affairs of the party towards winning elections 2012.

Apart from the incumbent Chairman, Ransom Yinbil and Secretary, Alhassan David who were retained, the remaining seven regional executive positions were keenly contested and won by new members.

The entire national Leadership of the CPP as well as aspirants seeking national positions at the next national delegates congress were in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital to campaign ahead of the congress.

Ransom Yinbil, the incumbent chairman, obtained 108 votes, to beat two other contestants; Alhaji Adamu and Grace Abayiak, who managed nine and seven votes respectively.

Other elected officers include, Alhassan David, Secretary, Paulina Avaripo, Treasurer; Kuba Fellah Jean, Women’s Organiser while Husaini Ibrahim was elected as Regional Organiser. The most keenly contested position was that of Regional Youth Organsier, which was won by Mohammed Ibrahim beating his challenger Abayiak Williams with only one vote.

Awuuf Nambe and Hannah Azor were declared unopposed for the positions of First and Second Vice Chairman respectively.
