NYC happy with realignment of Ministry of Youth and Sports

Accra, Jan. 29, GNA - The National Youth Council (NYC) on Thursday expressed satisfaction with the re-alignment of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the nomination of Alhaji Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase, as the minister-designate.

The council expressed optimism that the Alhaji Mubarak, a youth, would go through Parliamentary vetting successfully to be appointed the substantive Minister of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. This was contained in a statement signed by Ms. Sarah Efumwaa Obeng, Public Relations Officer of NYC, in Accra to congratulate President John Evans Atta Mills and Vice President John Dramani Mahama on their election. The NYC said it acknowledged with pride the contribution of the youth in the peaceful conduct of the December presidential and parliamentary elections.

"As a statutory agency for youth development, the NYC is poised to take its rightful role in the implementation of 'a better Ghana' agenda for the youth," the statement said. The council further enjoined the youth to be discerning, while taking advantage of every opportunity that government would open to them. "The council is highly enthused by the apparent positive orientation towards youth development and anticipates fruitful collaboration between that youth and government of Ghana in the expectation that the NYC will be resourced adequately to deliver effectively and efficiently on its mandate to empower the youth," the statement said.
