Minister predicts 60% win for NPP flagbearer

Seikwa (B/A) Oct. 21, GNA - Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, NPP flagbearer is cruising to a 60 per cent win in the Presidential election on December 7, Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi, Deputy Minister of Energy stated at the weekend. He said by the rapturous welcome exhibited by Ghanaians as he accompanied the flagbearer during his regional tours, there was every indication that the NPP message of moving the country forward under an Akufo-Addo administration had gone down well with the populace. "As a member of the flagbearer's campaign team to the regions, what I experienced showed that there is no doubt that he (flagbearer) will achieve those maximum points," the Deputy Minister who is MP for Nkoranza South said.
Mr Ampofo-Twumasi was addressing a well-attended rally at Seikwa in Tain District of Brong Ahafo at the launch of the campaign of Mr Joe Danquah, MP for Tain and Parliamentary candidate for the December elections.
The Deputy Minister exhorted NPP members and executives, to intensify efforts in the house to house campaign to explain the achievements of the NPP's almost eight years administration to win more floating votes for the party. "There is every indication that the NPP is now being invited to even its hitherto no-go areas," he added, and urged, Ghanaians to vote for candidates who would help to advance their personal and community's development.
Mr Ampofo-Twumasi told the enthusiastic crowd: "Politics is all about helping to advance the well-being of the people and it is incumbent on you to reflect on the laudable improvement in the constituency under Joe (Danquah) as MP and cast your votes for him and Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo. "What has been achieved in this constituency (Tain) during his tenure in Parliament is ample testimony that he seeks the development of this area," Mr. Ampofo-Twumasi.
Mr Kofi Darko, Brong Ahafo Regional Organiser of the party, reiterated that a lot of improvement had been chalked in the constituency during the MP's tenure and mentioned the provision of electricity in several communities, potable water that had helped to minimize the incidence of guinea worm, as well as the tarring of dusty roads in the area. He cautioned the people against the 'skirt and blouse' trend of voting, saying good governance, peace and stability under the NPP administration had propelled the country through the turbulent global oil and energy crisis.
In his address, Mr Danquah stated that since winning the Parliamentary seat in 2004, several communities in the constituency had been provided with electricity and a contract had been awarded for the extension of power to 15 more communities. He enumerated other achievements as the provision of school infrastructure and a new market at Seikwa and urged the people to "look at the tremendous improvement in their lives and vote to retain the NPP in December". The MP advised the people not to be deceived by "the lies of opposition detractors" and to appreciate what the NPP government had done for Tain constituency. Madam Ama Amponsah of the regional campaign team, urged the people to dismiss the lies of the opposition and rather vote massively for both the flagbearer and the MP so that the next NPP administration could build on the solid foundation laid by the Kufuor government.
