DFP government will provides subsidy to farmers

Bibiani (W/R), Aug 12, GNA - Agricultural subsidies would be provided to farmers under the government of the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Mr Emmanuel Owusu-Antwi, presidential candidate of the party has assured. Other policies he outlined included the creation of storage facilities and marketing initiatives to make the nation self-sufficient in food production at affordable prices. Mr Owusu-Antwi made this known at a rally organised by the DFP at Bibiani on Sunday.

He said private enterprises would be supported to become the bedrock of job creation adding that other priority areas would be science, technology and education. Further he said traditional rulers would be given more representation in the district assemblies to enable them to contribute effectively to national development.

Dr Obed Yao Asamoah, Chief Patron of the Party, called on the electorate to give their mandate to the DFP since the previous parties had failed to fulfil their numerous promises, plunging the country into a state of poverty. Mrs Franklina Asamoah, National Women's Organiser of the party said the DFP government would be sensitive to gender issues and ensured that women to take higher positions and responsibilities in national development. Madam Alice Gyamfi, 45, a businesswoman was introduced as the DFP's parliamentary candidate for the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency. 12 Aug. 08
