Kwabre West NPP chairman appeals for calm

Kumasi, Nov 26, GNA - Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, chairman of the Kwabre West constituency of the NPP, has appealed to party supporters in the constituency to resist attempts by some regional executives of the party to divide their ranks.

He described the purported organisation of an emergency meeting in the constituency to impeach him, which was announced by the Ashanti Regional chairman, Mr Yaw Amankwaa, as false.

In a statement issued in Kumasi to react to the purported vote of no confidence in him and other four constituency executives by some 35 constituency executive members, he said he was still the constitutionally elected chairman of the constituency. Odeneho Kwaku Appiah said the action of the regional chairman of the party was unconstitutional and contravened Article 10 of the party's constitution.

He alleged that a section of the Ashanti Regional executive did not see the welfare of the party as paramount but were trying to scandalise some hard working people in the party.

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah appealed to people who were trying to fuel his removal from office to desist from that and channel their resources to the building of the party to continue to remain in power.
