We will haunt Mahama until he gives up and contests in 2020 - NDC youth

A very upset footsoldier of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yakubu Tony Aidoo has threatened that he and the rest of the youth in the Ashanti region will boycott the 2020 elections if former President John Dramani Mahama does not lead the party.

Yakubu stated that, Mr. Mahama’s contributions to the NDC all these years will be futile if he decides to end his political career prematurely.

“We the youth in the Ashanti Region will not vote if Mahama fails to contest the election.

We will face him boot for boot; in fact, we will haunt him till he gives up and contest. He shouldn’t dare tell us that he won’t contest.

JM must come back whether he likes it or not. “Even if his wife (Lordina) intervenes, we won’t allow her too. She shouldn’t try to convince him at all because we need Mahama” he said on Okay FM.

The NDC is currently in a fix as to whether former president John Dramani Mahama is the best bet for the party in 2020 after losing the 2016 elections to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Whereas some people in the party want a comeback of the Mahama-led administration, other elements in the party want a long rest and vacation for the former President. Names like Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Haruna Iddrisu Inusah Fuseini, Hannah Serwah Tetteh, Dr Ekow Spio Gabrah among others have all come up as likely contenders for the flagbearership.

But Yakubu Tony Aidoo is of the view that the Ex- President is the party’s best bet and advised those lacing their boots to disregard their dreams of becoming NDC’s Presidential candidate for the NDC in 2020. “Those who are dreaming of becoming presidents should just stop dreaming because I think they are having such dreams because they are suffering from strange diseases. We won’t allow their dreams to come true. No Mahama, no vote” he chanted.
