We will double budgetary allocation for Agric. sector - Dr. Afriyie Akoto

Former Member of Parliament and Minister-designate for Agriculture, Dr. Akoto Afriyie says the Akufo Addo-led administration will as part of several measures double the sector’s budgetary allocation to revamp it.

In the exclusive interview with Ghanaweb, the minister designate asserted that the Agriculture sector has not blossom under the NDC administration partly because it was under resourced.

He noted that his government will commit ample resources to every aspect of the sector to reestablish it to increase its contribution to the country gross domestic product.

The also mentioned that his team is working devise policies that will make the sector more attractive to the youth.

“The reason why the agric sector does not interest the youth is because many of the people engaged in it are poor, and because they (youth) don’t want to end up being poor, they will rather result to other sectors for employment” he said.

He also explicated that the NPP’s one-district-one-factory and one-village-one-dam will reinforce sector, improving on its output.
