"Useless" leaders deceive illiterate Ghanaians - Wayo

Leader and founder of the United Renaissance Party (URP), Charles Kofi Wayo, has said that Ghanaian leaders know that majority of Ghanaians are not educated and capitalise on the situation to deceive them all the time.

All past and present, leaders apart from the first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, have not been practical in solving the energy and water crises in the country, according to Wayo.

He added that since the politicians see most Ghanaians as illiterates, they are unwilling to involve them in governance and as such keep deceiving and lying to them all the time. He said that they are also doing nothing to ensure that the uneducated get access to education.

The political maverick's caustic tongue lashed the past and the present leaders of Ghana, except the first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, describing them as “useless” and people who don’t listen to advice and are not willing to engage Ghanaians who can deal with the present situation in the country.

The enigmatic Kofi Wayo, though he admitted that it will not be easy, said the leaders must start from somewhere, and if the energy sector is not functioning then the blame should be on the Energy Ministry and not the Energy Commission since it is the ministry which controls the affairs of the sector.

Speaking on Okay FMs 'Ekwan So Dwodwo' programme Monday evening, the international businessman said that the leaders of this country don’t fear God; adding that this is the reason why they are relaxed and are not willing to create any opportunity for the many poor people in the country.

He said that, under the Kufour-led administration, he (Ex-Prez Kufour) didn't do anything to add up to what Dr. Nkrumah did and that during his eight years in power, he did nothing except introducing ‘Kufour Gallon’.

Charles Kofi Wayo again said that Ex-President Rawlings’ 19years in power saw the selling of the factories Dr Nkrumah built and that the NDC founder cannot boast of anything in the country.

He therefore charged on President Mahama that he has given him 90 days to solve the erratic power outages and water shortages and after which nothing happens he (Kofi Wayo) and his members will visit the the president.

He urged all Ghanaians to pray for President Mahama to have a stable mind to administer and govern the country since the NPPs court case is disturbing him.

He said Ghana is facing a leadership problem and according to him, it is time for Ghanaians to hold the leaders in the country responsible for their actions; stating emphatically that it is high time we vote to elect district chief executives and municipal chief executives instead of them being appointed.

In response to the water situation in this country, Kofi Wayo said that the water distribution should be decentralised and its distribution should be managed by majors of the various districts.

However, he said that if nothing is done about the water problems in the country, in ten years’ time Ghana will start importing water.
