The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has no tribal agenda, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, 2016 Presidential Candidate of the Party, has stated in Sunyani.

Nana Akufo-Addo stated his abhorrence of tribal politics and affirmed that when voted as President, he would not work for sectional and individual interest but the general well-being of all Ghanaians.

Nana Akufo-Addo who was on a visit to Brong-Ahafo as the eighth Region of his nationwide regional “Rise and Build” tour, made the statement at a meeting with some members, sympathisers and leadership of the Party in the Region at the Sunyani Polytechnic’s auditorium.

The participants also included winners and losers of the Party’s parliamentary primary for Election 2016, Members of Parliament (MPs), former MPs and ex- Ministers of State during the era of the Party in government.

Nana Akufo Addo stated his commitment to the practice of an open-door policy to utilise the views of the rank and file of the Party, saying that, leaders and members must be accommodating and open their arms to embrace whoever has the wish, desire and zeal to join their folds.

He noted that the attitude, actions and inactions of some members and executives of the Party not only breed disaffection and disunity but also tended to ward off potential sympathisers and followers.

The Presidential Candidate, consequently, exhorted all the Party’s followers to use “a language of solidarity, fraternity and togetherness” among themselves and all residents in the Region to contribute to victory for the Party in 2016.

A number of speakers, on a common theme of Unity and Hardwork, admonished that all the Party executives at every level must work in unison with commitment, dedication, and sacrifice to ensure resounding victory for the party in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

They include Mr. Alan John Kyerematen, a leading member of the NPP, and Miss Otiko Afisa Djaba, National Women’s Organiser.

Nana Akufo Addo and his entourage earlier paid a courtesy call on Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri, II, the Paramount Chief of Sunyani, and the members of the Sunyani Traditional Council.
