Leave Oye Lithur alone -northern group

A group calling itself Northern Friends of Oye Lithur has jumped to the defense of the under fire Minister Designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection, asking her critics to leave her alone.

Maintaining her stance on the defense and protection of the rights of homosexuals, Nana Oye Lithur has since after her vetting come under fire. Various interest groups including the Clergy have punched Nana Oye Lithur on her comments.

This has incurred the wrath of her fans and sympathizers in the northern region who have called for a ceasefire.

Spokesperson for the group, Mahama Zakariah in an interview said, “Many people are taking Nana Oye Lithur’s position out of perspective, she is coming from a human rights point of view that many of us are failing to understand.”

The group tasked her critics to reflect on Nana Oye Lithur’s positive track record in life and stop using her position on homosexual rights to judge her competence.

“Nana Oye Lithur has been an advocate for human rights for so long a time now; she has very good sides of her that people are not taking into consideration but they are rather concentrating on the rights of the Gays and Lesbians she is talking about.”

The group faulted some members of the Appointments Committee who scrutinized Nana Oye Lithur on issues of morality and indicated that majority of them will not score any better marks if they are to be judged on morality.

“Those who are talking about issues of morality, the people who sat on the committee to vet Nana Oye Lithur includes them that when it comes to issues of morality many of them cannot stand the test of time.”

“If morality is to determine one’s ability to perform in any sector or anywhere, then some of them shouldn’t have been on the panel because we know there are Lawyers in Parliament there who go out to defend Armed Robbers, Rapists and Fraudsters and that is what we the Friends of Nana Oye Lithur in the northern region are talking about.”
