I have Rawlings’ support — Kofi Adams

An aspirant for the national organiser position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has disclosed that he has the full backing of the party’s founder, Jerry John Rawlings.

He noted that the decision by Flt. Lt. Rawlings to support him was based on his competence rather than being a spokesperson for the latter.

“The former President will better tell; he is someone who will say good things about you, if he knows you are competent and have the qualities for a job,” Mr. Adams disclosed in an interview on Tuesday.

According to the incumbent deputy general secretary, his decision to vie for the national organiser post was borne out of the fact that he has the needed experience and his love for the NDC.

“I know the NDC better and understand its working because I have held various positions from the grassroots before joining the hierarchy."

Mr. Adams explained that he is a former organiser for Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) of the NDC, a constituency organiser, constituency secretary, Central Regional organiser, deputy national youth organiser and deputy general secretary.

He therefore stated that his duty as a national organiser would be to mobilize more members for the party.

According to him, he would not only depend on youth and women wings of the party, but would also galvanise the numerous groups that emerge during electioneering periods.

This, he said, was needed because such groups have not been fully utilised when elections were over.

He maintained his analysis showed there were still grey areas in the organizational set up of the NDC.

“We need to coordinate the youth, women, Members of Parliament and various groups to form a solid rock party,” he said.

Adding that, organization is not only about winning elections, but also organising people for the benefit of the NDC.

“So the party need a bold, decisive and selfless person to organise people. And an organisation needs a field man to mobilize membership of the party at all times, so as an organizer, Kofi Adams will always be on the field."

According to him, the biggest threat to the NDC and its administration was about organisation and the change of tactics during the 2016 general elections and beyond.
