Government committed to developmental projects-Minister

Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development has reiterated government’s commitment to ensure development in all areas of the country.

He said government would remain resolute in pursuing its developmental projects and not be detracted by unrealistic comments by the opposition New Patriotic Party.

Mr. Ampofo was addressing supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Accra at the weekend at the launching of Odododiodio Constituency campaign of the Party.

He said since government believed in equality, its policies and programmes had covered every region, and appealed to the electorate to renew the government’s mandate for the second four year term.

Mr. Ampofo said government had provided infrastructure in all areas irrespective of political affiliation and demonstrated its position that NDC was not vindictive in the allocation of resources for development.

Mr. Fifii Kwetey, Deputy Minister of Finance described the NPP comments on tagging the NDC as paying judgment debt as “hypocritical”.

Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development said the NPP had come to terms with the possibility of losing the impending election and was therefore resorting to unfounded allegations “because they have nothing to tell the public”.

He cautioned NDC supporters against complacency and urged them to work harder to explain government achievements to the public.

Mr. Nii Lante Vanderpuye, NDC Parliamentary candidate for Odododiodo said there was the need for the youth groups of the Party to educate the masses on the developmental achievements chalked by the ruling government.

He asked supporters not to allowed themselves to be influenced by politicians to indulge in unhealthy political activities to mar the beauty of the impending elections.**
