Gov't to expand economy through job creation - Veep

Vice-President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur on Wednesday morning arrived in Kumasi to address the ninth quadrennial delegate’s congress of the Ghana Trades Union Congress.

The five-day congress which started from August 11-16 is on the theme “Organising for Empowerment, Employment Security and Increased Productivity”. It is taking place at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Vice President Amissah-Arthur, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana arrived to a hearty welcome by Dr Kweku Agyemang-Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on his maiden visit to the Garden City.

In a speech read on behalf of President Mahama by Amissah-Arthur, he reiterated government’s commitment to expand the country’s economy through job creation.

According to him, the better Ghana agenda has job creation as one of the four pillars supporting the Better Ghana Agenda.

He emphasized that government recognizes need to continue to produce the kind of atmosphere which will enable the private sector to create jobs.
