Dr Richard Kuuire, former Director-General of Ghana Prisons Service, has picked his nomination forms to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries for the Nandom Constituency.

Dr Kuuire joined by many supporters, began the journey from Tokuu, his hometown, to Nandom to pick the nomination forms at the constituency office.

Addressing the teeming supporters at the forecourts of the constituency office, Dr Kuuire called for a peaceful campaign among the various contestants so that the party would stay united.

“Let all others pledge to conduct their campaigns peacefully and be prepared as I am, to support anyone of us who wins the primaries to lead the party to victory in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections,” he said.

“We should not stand for violence, we should stand for peace and development. Whatever it takes to re-transform the Nandom District, the Upper West Region and Ghana should be our goal”, he said.

Dr Kuuire said he is well acquainted with the difficulties and challenges of the people and is prepared to work hard to address those constraints to help improve the livelihoods of the people.

At his residence, Dr. Kuuire urged the supporters to throw their support behind him and effect a change to bring more development to the area.

He cautioned the supporters to be wary of liars, who would peddling rumours and half-truths around the communities with the sole aim of discrediting others and divide rank and file of the NDC.

Dr Kuuire urged the supporters to be patient and steadfast in their dealings with others, saying: “It is not contest of violence but for peace and development and learn to report all criminal offences committed against you to the police and not take the law into your own hands”.

Dr Kuuire earlier led the supporters to the Nandom-Naa Dr Puoure Puobe Chiir, Paramount Chief of Nandom and presented his nomination form to him.

He said he came to pay homage to the chief and elders of the area and to assure them of a peaceful campaign to help enhance development.

Dr Luke Angala-ere and Cuthbert Baba Kuupiel, the current District Chief Executive, are the two other contestants who also picked their nomination forms.
