Chairman for the Ashanti Regional branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP),Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi says members of the Delta Force are not criminals.

He described the vigilante group as loyal supporters of the NPP who have served the elephant family selflessly.

He said, one thing that is clear which he would want to reiterate is that, it is only the president who has the power to appoint and when he appoints someone, you cannot disapprove his nomination or appointee.

The maverick politician in an interview with Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm said, as chairman for the party in the region, he has accepted responsibility for the unfortunate incident. He also debunked claims that he has been summoned by the president over the attack.

He described the publication as false adding, this was done by some faceless individuals who want to court controversy. He quizzed why a president of the republic, will summon him through the media.

The Delta Force group last week Friday stormed the premises of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council last Friday, demanding the removal of the Regional Security Coordinator, George Adjei.

They destroyed some properties in a bloody attack and forced the Security Coordinator out of his office.

The Security Coordinator was however saved by the timely intervention of the police.

Already, the Police in Kumasi have arrested five members of the Delta Force. The five include Kwadwo Fosu Bamba, who is the Commander of the group, Awal Sadat Abubakar, Abubakar Sadiq Abdul Hameed, Jamil Issah and Hamza Mohammed.
