Concerned NDC Supporters accuse MCE

Nkawkaw (E/R), Aug.13, GNA – A group calling itself the concerned supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nkawkaw constituency has accused the Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Alex Somuah Obeng, and two others of “highjacking” the party.

The two others are Mr Francis Oppong and Mr Isaac Kofi Adu the constituency Chairman and Secretary respectively.

The group allege that the activities of the MCE and the two others were leading to the collapse of the party in the constituency and affect the NDC performances in the 2012 general elections.

Addressing a press conference at Nkawkaw on Friday, a spokesperson of the group, Mr Yin Baare, said the MCE and the two others had failed to discuss government policies with the executives to ensure their effective implementation in the area.

He accused the MCE of awarding over 50 percent of public construction contracts to the constituency chairman neglecting other qualified contractors in the area.

The MCE and the two other executive when contacted denied all the accusations.

They said the regional and national executive had met the constituency executive on those allegations and had settled them amicably at separate meetings in Koforidua and Accra.
