The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers, CODEO, says a statement made by the 2012 Presidential Candidate for the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom that, they have become objects of cover-up for stealing and bribery during elections is very unfortunate.

At a press briefing in Accra on Monday, Dr Nduom explained that, he was very worried about what may happen in the 2016 general elections looking at what happened in Talensi during the By-election.

He went on to say that election observers use to be reliable in the country but have lost credibility in recent times because they are sometimes manipulated by some political parties to misrepresent facts on the ground.

However, in response to the PPP’s 2012 Presidential Candidate, the National Coordinator for CODEO, Albert Kofi Arhin explained to Atinka News that, the organization had already captured some incidents at Talensi in their report and, therefore, wondered why Dr Nduom would make such a statement.

The former Director of Elections at the Electoral Commission therefore urged persons who have evidence that a political party bribed some persons to take the matter on and not hide in their quarters and later come out to say there was bribery and corruption during an election.

He further suggested that the PPP leader made the unfortunate remarks because he had not read a copy of CODEO’s report on the Talensi elections. Mr Arhin, therefore, entreated Dr. Nduom to get a copy of the report.
