Cosmos Buffalos defeats Hurricane in GRCC

Cosmos Buffalos displayed a spirited performance to defeat the Dansoman Hurricane 14 points to 5 in week one of the Ghana Rugby Club Championship (GRCC) at the Rugby pitch in Legon, Accra.

This was the first game from Pool A with clubs from Greater Accra. The game lived up to all the hype, as the two giants of Ghana Rugby proved which side deserved to lift the coveted Eagles Cup.

Dansoman Hurricane began confidently in their quest to reverse last weekend’s defeat to Cosmos Buffalos in the Charley's Cup finals and stayed tactically aware defensively and offensively at the onset.

The Hurricanes opened the game with the only try in the first half with Buffalos rallying back soon enough counting on some tactical brilliance. The latter's persistence completely turn the tables in their favour in the second half.

Coming back strong from recess, Buffalos scored two tries, converting both kicks to win the game in the dying minutes of the match by 14 points to 5.

Buffaloes coach, Amuzuloh Salim said in a post-match interview that "My side missed out on winning last season’s club championship and this year, we are very well prepared for the task ahead and our game was the clear evidence of intent."

Legon Titans RFC will engage Idas Sports Rugby at the Legon Rugby pitch on Sunday, November 9.
