Normeshie wins bronze in ECOWAS Judo championship

Ghana’s Raymond Normeshie emerged as the sole Judoka to win a medal in the just ended West Africa Judo Championship which took place in Abidjan, Cote D’ Ivoire.

Normeshie, who fought in the 90Kg category won a bronze medal in the West African competition that saw all the best players in the sport participating.

Even though five other Judoka’s from Ghana competed in the championship made up of Dominic Agudoo -66kg, Razak Abugri -66kg, Ali Alhassan-66kg , Iddrisu Sardor Abdullah -66kg and Ibrahim Mumuni -73kg, none of them were able to win medals even though reports indicates they fought well.

Information gathered by the GNA Sports reveals that the sub-region also used the occasion to organize an emergency Judo Congress, which was supervised by General Lanssana Palenfo, President of the Africa Judo Union and Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).

The Congress also resolved to hold the next competition and a follow up Congress in Lome, Togo in December this year.**
