Raphael Akoto appointed African President of Tiger and Dragon Association

Mr Raphael Sylvanus Akoto, Ghanaian martial art specialist had been appointed African President of the Tiger and Dragon Association.

The Tiger and Dragon Association, is one of the leading Kampfkunste, Hu long wu shu, Taekwondo, mix martial Arts and kickboxing organization in the world and promotes regional integration through martial arts.

Mr Akoto holds a fourth dan degree black belt in taekwondo and seventh dan degree black belt in hapkido .

The appointment was announced as part of activities organized for the opening of a Tiger and Dragon Association Ghana and Africa Office in Ghana.

The association will serve as an umbrella organization for member countries to cooperate, communicate and promote mix martial arts as one of the ways of fostering development in the participating countries.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Akoto explained that, the aim of the association was to create a network of mix martial arts associations throughout the world, promote exchanges and encourage friendship.

He said Ghana is making a big impact on the international martial arts scene and had made the country attention from the international community .

Mr Akoto said, two children from Accra Grammar School were invited last year October to train with Silent Stream Martial Arts and Tiger and Dragon Association in Germany and participated in a competition.

He said the two had been invited again this year by the same organizations and World Organization of Martial Arts and Athletics (WOMAA) to compete in a championship in Germany.

He expressed the hope that , the children will bring honours to the country when they participate in the championship.
