Health providers must be made to understand that they are subject to overiding national law.if they are not happy about that then they should leave, or should not have joined the health service in the first place. All health professionals and workers must be made to sign a national government contract that they cannot opt out of providing care for anyone under false pretences of religious sensitivities. If they understand their religions properly,then it's not an issue at all.

This research is fake and only intended to satisfy their paymasters. Elective abortion is illegal in Ghana. Abortion is only permitted when the woman is raped/defiled, when the pregnancy threatens the life of the woman etc. Under these circumstances health service providers provide care. If the so-called researchers are advocating the legalisation of abortion they shd just say so. I agree that 15-25% of maternal deaths in the northern regions are as a result of unsafe abortions. Abortions that are mostly bcoz the women don't like the babies not bcoz of I'll health. We can have a national dialogue on whether we want to legalize abortion or not. What a lot of the young girls do is that when they get pregnant, they take various concoctions and when they start bleeding they rash to a nearby hospital to have the abortion. Some arrive so late that they end up dying. Whether we like it or not ppl will have sex. Once they do they will get pregnant. We need to strengthen our family planning services and/or think of legalising abortion.
