Women’s Health to Wealth supports GHS

The Women’s Health to Wealth, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), on Friday presented medical items worth $ 100, 000 to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in Accra.

The items included BD eclipse injection needles, smart seal surgical mask, isolation gown, specimen transport bags, safety glide injection needles and scrub pant excel.

Nana Abena Akuamoah-Boateng, the Executive Director, Women’s Health to Wealth, said the donation was in response to the unfortunate incident that happened to the Central Medical Stores.

In January, fire gutted the Central medical stores in Tema, a depot for medical supplies in the country.

The Executive Director said when the incident happened, the organisation appealed to its partners, one of them being Americare to support them provide some of the very high quality items in demand, hence the presentation.

She said the focus of the organisation is now on new born care, adding that the staff have provided training for care providers to discharge their duties well.

She said for the country to develop, government should pay attention to the health of women, since society cannot develop without the contribution of women.

“There is the need to focus more on women’s health, if we want to attain most of our developmental goals,” she added.

Dr Gloria Quansah-Asare, the Deputy Director-General, GHS expressed gratitude to the NGO for their thoughtfulness to support the service.

She pledged that the medical supplies would be distributed to the appropriate health facilities.
