Friends of Buah organize ‘Hepatitis B’ screening exercise

for Kumgbule Residents

A Group calling itself Friends of Buah, a wing of the Member of Parliament for Ellembele in the Western Region, Hon. Emmanuel Kof-Buah as part of their contribution to the Ramadan Celebration has organized a ‘Hepatitis B’ health screening exercise for residents of Kamgbule, a Muslim community in the Ellembele District.

The exercise which was held for over one hundred and fifty individuals was also organized partnership with the Ellembele District Health Directorate and the Ekwie St Martin’s D’ Porres Mission Hospital.

The exercise which was held last Monday was aimed at vaccinating and creating the awareness on the causes and as well as some of the preventive measures that can be adopted to control the disease.

The Director of Operations for the Group, Michael Quasie in an interview with the pressmen stated that the exercise was necessary since it was geared towards complementing the numerous good works by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah.

He added that the screening exercise was held mainly to educate and encourage the people to check the health status periodically especially with the Hepatitis B disease.

This, he stressed would enable them to receive immediate medical attention and urged them to constantly visit the hospital for routine checkups at least once in every three months.

On her part, the District Director of Health Madam Elizabeth Conneh in her speech commended the group for their benevolence and called on others to emulate the charitable work of Friends of Buah.

She used the platform to call on all to be mindful of their health status and ensures to visit the hospital occasionally to know their health conditions.
