BA Regional Hospital receives modern medical devices

The Council of Brong-Ahafo Associations in North America, (COBANA), a group made of Brong-Ahafo citizens resident in North America, has presented medical devices and equipment worth 131,000 dollars to the Regional Hospital in Sunyani.

The items comprised infant bassinet and electric hospital beds, feeding pumps, adjustable exam tables, gurneys, mattresses, wheel chairs, wheel scale chairs, Adult PET mobility carts, wheel blood pressure stand and pediatric exam tables with scales.

Others were pallet of 4x4 sterile X-ray Tec Gauze, pallets of Sterile Utility, lap sponges and mixed medical supplies, as well as Nebulizer machines, tabletop suction machines, boxes of custom packed mixed with medical supplies, collapsible IV poles and Hoyer patient lift.

Professor Darko Opoku, a member, who made the presentation on behalf of COBANA, explained the gesture was the group’s contribution to help bring and promote quality healthcare service among people in the region. He was optimistic that the hospital’s management would take good care of the machines to benefit the current generation, and those yet unborn.

Dr Jacob Abebrese, Medical Superintendent, said the hospital appreciated the contributions of COBANA, and appealed for more modern medical devices. He observed that the hospital had benefited much from the group since the relationship started three years ago, and expressed the hope that the link would be strengthened.

Dr Abebrese assured that the devices would be used for the intended purposes, and entreated other organisations to support the hospital. A UK-based philanthropist, Comfort Buahin, also presented medications and Pulse Oxymeter worth 1,000 pounds to the hospital.
