First Lady presents items to Apam Hospital

The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama on Friday presented a large quantity of assorted items to the Saint Luke Catholic hospital at Apam as her contribution towards the promotion of health delivery in the area.

The items include several boxes of gloves, stabilizers, surgical Masks, Catheters and several boxes of Diapers, quantities of Stringers, boxes of Bandages, thrash containers, dressing items and sterilization packs.

According to the First Lady, the items were realized through companies by her Organisation, the Lordina Foundation. She hoped that the items would help promote good health care delivery to the people of the area.

The chief of Apam, Nana Effrim X who received the items on behalf of the Hospital, called on Mrs Mahama to help the facility with Ambulances and provision of residential accommodation to encourage more staff to accept transfer to the place. Nana Effrim invited the first lady to join the people during the celebration of this year’s “Akomase Festival” on September 27 2014.

The Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr Ebenezer Ameka said the Hospital is the only health facility in Gomoa Area and serves a population of over 2,200. On behalf of the chiefs and people of Apam, Nana Effrim presented a kente cloth and beads to the first Lady to mark her visit to the Gomoa area.

Among those present were the outgoing Central Regional Minister, Mr. E, K.T. Addo, Gomoa West District chief Executive, Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, chiefs and Queen mothers and some NDC supporters.
