Send Ghana launches on community health report

Social Enterprise and Development Ghana (SEND GHANA) has launched a community health report to assist the effectiveness of Community- based Health planning and services (CHPS) strategy in meeting the health needs of rural dwellers.
CHPS was introduced into Ghana‘s health system in the 2000 to address fundamental challenges regarding access to quality healthcare service. The Ghana health services GHS adopted the CHPS concept as a national strategy for promoting accessible ,quality and equitable healthcare services to all Ghanaians, Particularly those in rural areas to eliminate disparities in access to basic medical and health services.
Dr. Ellen Bortie Doku Aryeeteh, Sociologist at the university of Ghana said at the launch in Accra that, the level of collaboration and citizen involvement in it implementation and examined the quality of services delivered by CHPS compounds must be comprehend.
She said review of the report prove positive inasmuch as personal interview is a fundamental tool in getting information from qualitative manner.
She pointed that some part of the research were left out which include midwives and other unmentioned areas of communities suffering from poverty.
Dr. Doku mention funding of budgetary is one challenging need, therefore Ghana health service must be grateful to CHPS compound for achieving it goal.
Madam Janet Mohammed, Board Chairperson of SEND-GHANA comment that CHPS need further training to support in delivery of service to patient.
She lamented that issues of development partners funding the project must be well address since the report show positive impact on health in CHPS compounds.
Representative from the Ghana Health service, said CHPs is an expression that the ministry of health is embarking on to provide community with good, quality and equitable healthcare service to rural areas and Ghanaians as well.
The rep said there are some challenges of meeting the expectation of community needs, therefore different level of expectation must be manage.
