Condoms up for grabs

An estimated 4,772 free condoms were up for grabs at the Jubilee Park during this year’s family planning week launch in Ho on October 2.

They were made up of 3,000 male condoms and 1,772 female condoms. Ms Millicent Kokui Heloo, Principal Nursing Officer Public Health, Volta Regional Health Directorate, told the GNA at a post-launch review meeting in Ho that some people also called at the Family Planning exhibition mounted by the Ghana Health Service.

An official at the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) however told the GNA that only eight people called at its Family Planning stand during the launch.

The launch was under the theme, “Your future, your choice, your contraception-act now.”

Many more condoms were also shared among bystanders during a procession through some busy sections of the municipality the review meeting was told.

Indications were that many people were familiar with the male condoms as against the female condoms which attracted more interest during the launch.
