Tepa Government Hospital gets medical equipment

Tepa (Ash), Nov 2, GNA - United States based Health Cure Foundation Project has donated a 40-foot container of medical equipment in support of two heath facilities in the Ahafo-Ano North District - the Tepa Government Hospital and the Anyinasuso Health Assistants Training School. These include anaesthesia circuit sets, oxygen masks and tubing, surgical kits and gowns, chest tubes and nebulizer and drainage unit. There were also some medical books.

Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem II, Omanhene of Tepa, through whose initiative the items were brought in handed them over at a ceremony held at Tepa.

Mr Addai Amankwaah, the District Chief Executive, said the equipment would help to improve the quality of health care in the area. He cautioned against inflating bills of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card-holders, who report to the health facilities for treatment.

This, he said, could collapse the scheme, an intervention that has so far proved beneficial, particularly to the poor. Dr Isaac Akuamoah Boateng, Medical Superintendent of Tepa Hospital, said they were grateful to the US group for the assistance. Nana Atwenewa Ampem said this was the second time in two years that the Foundation had shipped medical tools and equipment to the district. He said the people in the area cherished the bond of friendship between them and the US and would continue to sustain it. 02 Nov 09
