Unilever launches World Oral Health Day

To mark World Oral Health Day (WOHD), leading oral healthcare brand in Ghana, Pepsodent, in partnership with the Ghana Education Service, The Ghana Dental Association and the Ministry of Health has launched this year’s, “Brush Day & Night’ school program to educate children about the benefits of brushing twice a day to avoid major oral problems.

The ‘Brush Day & Night’ initiative aims at turning school children into ‘Little Dentists’ who can inspire their families and friends to improve their oral care habits, and improve the oral health of 5 million children by 2020.
The theme for this year’s project is, “it all starts here, healthy mouth, healthy body,”

Speaking at the function, the Oral Care Marketing Manager of Unilever Ghana, Patience Oforiwaa Mpereh, mentioned the success of last year’s project.
“This year, we are looking to go even further, reaching more children and instilling in our future leaders the habits that will help secure their bright futures today. As our schools and homes build the minds and characters of these future leaders, we must equally safeguard their physical wellbeing as well. Thus, the theme of this year’s World Oral Health Day celebrations, “It all Starts here. Healthy mouth. Healthy Body,” she added.

This year’s launch came off at the Christ The King School in Accra and present were some selected schools in the Greater Accra metropolis.

Also present were representatives of the Ghana Education Service, the Ghana Health Service, the National Chief Dental Officer, President of the Ghana Dental Association, Traditional heads and the Assemblyman for the Kinka Electoral Area.

The Djormo Drama troupe were present to offer entertainment.
The World Oral Health Day is on the 18th of March, 2016.
