Nkoranza Saint Theresa’s Hospital acquires an ambulance

The Nkoranza Saint Theresa’s Hospital in the Brong-Ahafo Region has purchased an ambulance worth GH¢30,000 to enhance effective and quality health care services.

The Most Reverend Dominic Yeboah Nyarko, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Techiman, who unveiled and blessed the ambulance at Nkoranza commended the management for their foresight towards the development of the hospital.

He expressed appreciation for the hard work and efforts of staff of the hospital in contributing to the mobilization of funds to purchase the vehicle and gave the assurance that, the diocese would continue to support the hospital.

The Bishop advised the management and staff to maintain the ambulance well to avoid unnecessary breakdowns and other mishaps.

Mr. Francis Tawiah, administrator of the hospital, paid tribute to management of Holy Family Hospital at Techiman for assisting the health facility at Nkoranza with such transport service over the years.

He disclosed, the hospital in the year 2010 made 255 referrals to other health institutions and this number increased to 259 in the year 2011, adding, as at the end of February this year about 30 cases had been referred.

The administrator mentioned Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Saint John of God Hospital at Duayaw-Nkwanta in Tano South District, Techiman Holy Family Hospital and the Regional Hospital in Sunyani as among the referral centres.

“The acquisition of the ambulance is a big relief to our hospital as we would be able to provide ready transport services for referred patients without delay, as used to be in the past”, he said.
