Forty private schools end HIV/AIDS education

Asikuma (C/R), Aug. 29, GNA - Mr Richard Dela Dankey, Deputy Coordinating Director of Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District, has advised children to shun immoral acts that would lead them to trouble. He gave the advice at a two-day workshop for pupils from 40 private schools who are being trained as peer educators on HIV/AIDS in the area. The workshop which was organised by the District Assembly in conjunction with the Humanitarian Foundation and sponsored by the Ghana AID= S Commission, was part of efforts to help reduce the spread of the pandemic i= n the country. He appealed to the pupils to avoid drug abuse, alcoholic intake, marijuana smoking and watching pornographic materials. Participants in the program were drawn from 20 basic schools and they were taken through the fundamentals on Sexually Transmitted Diseases, the role of a peer educator and how to document and give feedback on peers.
